Atelier NAN at the Hawk Creek Gallery-Fall Residency 2014

In September and October of Fall 2014 I lived, worked and showed
at the Hawk Creek Gallery in Neskowin, Oregon. Artist Michael Shclicting
invited me to run the gallery and to live and work in the studio while
he was traveling. It was an experience I will always remember. Each
day I would walk for an hour or so along the ocean before opening at
11am. The weather was so good that I spent most of my days outside
painting on the deck or the back entrance to the gallery. This allowed
me to welcome guests to view the two person show as well as to continue
to paint for the seven shows I am participating in this holiday season!!
I returned to Portland late on Sunday nights to touch base with my studio
Atelier NAN and to begin my year long project for the Lan Su Chinese Garden
of Portland, Oregon "POND". The Director of the garden has asked me to
paint throughout this next year imagery of Lan Su with emphasis on the
pond. They are beginning a fundraising campaign to refurbish the pond
and will be using my paintings to advertise and promote this project with!
I painted several times from the birdseye view of their corporate offices at
10 stories up in the building kitty corner from the garden itself. This story
was picked up by Bob Bahr, the Editor of OutDoor Painter magazine and
featured in September just after I had moved to the coast to manage the
Hawk Creek Gallery. The first day I opened the door this article came out!!
